I really celebrate this!

I celebrate my nearly 16 years old love for the Arthurian Legend with this drawing – and the fact, that the flame never burned much brighter than now.

This portrait of young Arthur Pendragon should’ve been my first drawing of him, I think. Those sad eyes… I think you could see the burden, the cross he’s got to bear due to his leader-/kingship. And I also hope you could see, how much I love this character. It’s not Bradley James’ acting alone. It’s the character of this “Once and future king” that fascinates me for decades now. So this one was really a piece of my heart to do

I used 3 different photos of “Captain Wow” Mr. James for reference: One for the pose, one for the shadows and highlights and another one for his lips/mouth.

The hair: All mine.

I love to draw hair…

So this isn’t exactly a copy of one picture of him.
I used pencils up from 2HB to 6B and black colored pencils.

Hope you like it anyway.

It’s far from perfect. But I think I’m on the right way. I’ll practice much more often now

This really is an incredible piece, you only have to take one quick glance and it jumps out at you. The intensity of the eyes is incredible, It feels like its really staring right at you. The shading is so amazing I downloaded it and zoomed it really far and it is just perfect. I really do look at it and Feel so Impressed with your talent.

The hair is amazing, it feels and looks 3D, I love the shading of it, it just seems to flow and I love how dark it is. Maybe the line on the nose is a bit hard but the whole face makes up for it. The line of the jaw, the shading everything creates a truly magical drawing. And as for the chain mail, wow, it's incredible, I can't imagine how long it must have taken it is phenomenal.

I adore all the detail in it, the studs in the armour, the detail of the armour, the lips are perfect and very 3D.

Absolutely fantastic well done.

A pretty impressive drawing, whether it's portraits I can help a bit and I just add that: * The symmetry of the nose is a bit lopsided * The separation between it and the mouth is slightly elongated. * Both eyes are of different sizes * Try a gradient in the eyes with the pencil, because at first glance does not seem real. * In no armor cleaning (especially in the shade), tries to draw a complete and long A little advice: I am interested to see your level of assertiveness on the link of the original image, for next time: D I hope my criticisms serve you! regards

I love the thought you've put into matching it with the quotes and finding various references, and of course the whole piece itself... and the detail on that chain mail is stunning!
